Praise the Lord – Make and Take Book

Both the process of making this book and the resource help develop motor and educational skills. Children work on bilateral hand coordination skills (using both hands together in a coordinated manner), visual motor skills (responding to visual information with coordinated hand movements), and fine motor skills while cutting and coloring to create this book.

This book was designed using word repetition and simple sentences to help developing readers gain confidence. Challenge words are presented in a different color with a picture cue to assist children in recognizing unfamiliar words. You can help your child by first reading the story to them. When reading to younger children, you can occasionally pause while reading to let them predict the word that comes next. Developing readers can practice reading this book independently. You can help your child by encouraging them to sound out unfamiliar words first, but be ready to assist as needed. Talk about the book with your child after reading. Children can read this book many times to develop reading skills and become more familiar with Bible stories in the process.
